The Prime Minister Research Chair (PMRC) scheme, launched by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, connects outstanding researchers of Indian origin with leading universities and national research institutions. Selected researchers receive attractive financial support, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, research resources, and academic freedom. The Senior Fellow category is for candidates with five to ten years of post-PhD experience in research or teaching.
