Deemed to be University Status

The University Grants Commission (UGC) invites applications from eligible colleges for 'Deemed to be University' status through the official UGC portal. Under the April 2026 amendment, autonomous colleges, constituent colleges of state universities, and institutions specializing in Indian cultural heritage, skill development, sports, and Indian languages may apply. This status grants autonomy for syllabus design and introduction of specialized courses.
