Funding is available for energy efficiency, renewable energy, food security, active transportation, economic development, and innovation projects.

Local governments, First Nations, and legally incorporated non-profit organizations serving specific communities within the NKDF service area (Kitamaat Village, Southside, Nee Tahi Buhn Band, Cheslatta Carrier Nation, Skin Tyee Band, Village of Burns Lake, Ts'il Kaz Koh, Lake Babine Nation (Woyenne), Stellat'en First Nation, Village of Fraser Lake, Nadleh Whut'en Band, Fort Fraser, District of Vanderhoof, Saik'uz First Nation) are eligible.
