National Research Council of Canada (NRC) Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)

The NRC IRAP AI Assist Program helps Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) build, deploy and integrate new AI-based solutions, including generative AI and deep learning, in a safe and responsible manner. It provides funding and support through selected not-for-profit organizations and post-secondary institutions to eligible SMEs referred by NRC IRAP industrial technology advisors.

Is an incorporated not-for-profit organization that carries out business activities in Canada
Has facilities and conducts operations in Canada with employees based in Canada
Files corporate taxes in Canada
Withholds payroll deductions required by federal or provincial legislation
Has significant expertise in generative AI, deep neural networks, and deep learning with at least 3 years experience in providing AI advisory services to SMEs
Has an established organizational structure and framework necessary to deliver the project
Maintains professional liability insurance or errors and omissions insurance
Has a published policy to protect the privacy, information and data of SMEs
