Opportunity Scholarship

A means-tested cash bursary for UK and EU undergraduate students at Newcastle University, awarded automatically based on household income. Eligible students with household income up to £25,000 receive £2,000 per year; those with income £25,001-£35,000 receive £1,000 per year.

UK and EU undergraduate students registered at Newcastle University who commenced studies between 2014/15 and 2025/26, have been income assessed by Student Finance England, Wales, Northern Ireland, or SAAS, with household income at or below £35,000, and have consented to share income information with the university.

You are registered at the University.
You commenced your studies between 2014/15 and 2025/26.
You have been income assessed by Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or the Student Awards Agency for Scotland.
Your household income has been evaluated as £35,000 or below and you and your parents have consented to share this information with the University.
You are not eligible if you already hold an honours level degree or equivalent.
You are not eligible if you are eligible for NHS funding.
You are not eligible if you are on a placement year and paying a reduced tuition fee.
You are not eligible if you are studying a course leading to a PGCE qualification.
