FMA Innovation Fund Priority: Renewable Energy Technology Manufacturing

ARENA has allocated an initial tranche of up to $200 million to the Future Made in Australia (FMA) Innovation Fund to support pre-commercial innovation, demonstration and deployment of renewable energy and low emission technologies across the Renewable Energy Technology Manufacturing (RETM) Priority. The program aims to fund innovative projects that benefit Australia's transition to net zero by supporting manufacturing innovation and commercialisation of renewable energy technologies, developing Australian manufacturing capabilities and facilities, and alleviating critical supply chain challenges facing the clean energy transition.

Eligibility criteria

Projects must align with RETM Priority outcomes
Project activities must be pre-commercial innovation, demonstration or deployment
Projects should support product innovation and/or advancing manufacturing techniques to produce renewable energy technologies critical to Australia's net zero transition
Projects must expand Australia's renewable energy manufacturing capabilities of critical technologies
Projects should enable renewable energy development capabilities with focus on solutions that accelerate emissions reduction
Projects should increase or improve supply chain resilience for eligible technologies
Applications assessed under two streams: Innovation (early-stage technology development, prototyping, pilots, pre-commercial demonstrations, small-scale deployment, feasibility and FEED studies) or Deployment (technology scale-up activities, large scale deployment)
