A prize for a novella in prose, verse, or a hybrid form. The winner receives a written commendation, a $500 cash prize, fully subsidised conference fees to attend the 2026 AAWP conference, and the possibility of a publishing contract with Recent Work Press.

Who can apply

Open to writers at all stages of their career who are current members of the AAWP. Entries must not exceed 5,000 words (prose) or 50 lines (poetry), with full manuscript up to 50,000 words. Blind judging applies.
