Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship

The Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship supports postdoctoral and experienced researchers based in Germany to conduct a 6–24 month research stay abroad at a host of their choice. It enables researchers to carry out long-term research projects in collaboration with hosts within the Humboldt Network.

Eligibility criteria

Researchers based in Germany or integrated into the German academic system
Must hold German citizenship OR demonstrate long-term academic integration within the German research system with a clear intent to return
Postdocs: doctorate completed within the last 4 years (or final thesis summary if finishing within 6 months)
Experienced researchers: doctorate completed within the last 12 years with demonstrated independent academic profile
Must secure an academic host from the worldwide Humboldt Network (members abroad or international award recipients)
Applicants cannot have spent more than 6 months abroad immediately prior to application
Host institutions are generally expected to co-fund approximately one-third of the fellowship
