Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Research Fellowship

This fellowship supports highly qualified postdoctoral researchers from Germany to conduct a 1–24 month research stay in Japan. Funded jointly by the Humboldt Foundation and JSPS, it provides a monthly stipend of 362,000 yen plus settling-in and travel allowances. Researchers across all disciplines may apply, with standard stays (12–24 months) administered by Humboldt and short-term stays (1–12 months) administered by DAAD.

Who can apply

Highly qualified postdoctoral researchers from Germany who completed their doctorate within the last 6 years. Must hold German citizenship or permanent residence permit. Japanese nationals and Japan permanent residents are ineligible.
