NMRC Clinician Scientist Individual Research Grant (CS-IRG) July 2026 Grant Call

The CS-IRG supports clinician scientists in Singapore to carry out internationally competitive medical research, including investigator-initiated clinical trials for novel therapies, interventions and diagnostics. It covers basic, clinical and translational research across all themes, with seven national priority disease areas.

Who can apply

Applicants must hold a primary appointment in a Singapore public healthcare institution or autonomous university and be salaried by the institution. PIs must hold medical qualifications (e.g. MBBS, MD, BDS) or be non-medical healthcare professionals in clinical practice with a PhD or specified postgraduate qualification; other applicants may be considered case-by-case for human clinical research.

Eligibility criteria

Only one PI is allowed per application; capped at 1 grant application per grant type per call.
PI must hold a primary appointment in a Singapore public healthcare institution or autonomous university and be salaried by the institution.
PI must be an independent PI with a demonstrated track record of research (nationally competitive funding or substantial publication record).
PI must hold at least 9 months employment per calendar year with local public institution(s).
Medical/Dental applicants must hold medical qualifications (e.g. MBBS, MD, BDS or equivalent).
Non-medical healthcare professionals in clinical practice must hold a PhD or a postgraduate qualification listed in Table 1.
Other applicants (non-clinically qualified or non-practising healthcare professionals) may be considered case-by-case if the work is in human clinical research and they hold a PhD or equivalent.
