NRC — Challenge programs

Helps businesses and organizations get funding to create new products and processes. Supports innovations in various fields, including artificial intelligence. Funding covers up to 75% of eligible project expenditures, with stacking limits up to 100% of eligible costs, and also provides support for graduate and post-doctoral internships, strategic advice, mentorship, and access to NRC expertise and facilities.

Who can apply

Small and medium-sized enterprises, academic institutions, not-for-profit organizations, provincial/territorial/regional/municipal governments and agencies, Indigenous governments and representative organizations, collaborators with complementary expertise, research organizations, post-secondary institutions, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows; must engage in collaborative R&D projects with NRC researchers, address Canadian priorities, conduct transformative high-risk high-reward research; international collaborators must demonstrate benefit for Canada and Canadians.
