The Charles Hayward Foundation Overseas programme provides one-year grants of up to £15,000 to UK-registered charities with annual income between £150,000 and £4,000,000. Projects must improve livelihoods of disadvantaged communities in Commonwealth countries of Africa, focusing on clean water/sanitation (WASH), sustainable livelihoods linked to environmental/wildlife conservation, and farming skills/income-generation training. The application is a two-stage process (initial proposal then final trustee review), taking 4-5 months. Trustees meet three times yearly to review applications.
