The Robert and Margaret MacColl Johnson Fellowship Fund

The Robert and Margaret MacColl Johnson Fellowship Fund provides three annual fellowships of $30,000 each to emerging and mid-career artists based in Rhode Island. Established by the Rhode Island Foundation in 2003 and administered by the Artist Communities Alliance (ACA), the fellowship rotates disciplines on a three-year cycle: Visual Artists (2025), Composers (2026), and Writers (2027). Three finalists also receive a one-month artist residency.

Who can apply

Emerging and mid-career composers based in Rhode Island who have been residents for at least 12 months prior to the deadline. The fellowship rotates disciplines annually (Composers in 2026).
