EIC Pathfinder Challenge: DeepRAP (Deep Reasoning, Abstraction & Planning) 2026
The EIC Pathfinder Challenge: DeepRAP (Deep Reasoning, Abstraction & Planning) 2026 funds breakthrough research in trustworthy, human-centred cognitive AI systems. With a budget of up to €4 million per project as a 100% lump-sum grant, the challenge seeks to move beyond current generative AI and deep learning paradigms toward human-like cognitive functions. Proposals must advance at least one of three capabilities: Deep Reasoning (causal/logical inference beyond pattern matching), Deep Abstraction (concept formation and transfer learning), or Deep Planning (adaptive strategies in open/uncertain environments). Projects must target TRL 4, ensure compliance with the EU AI Act, and integrate into a managed portfolio under an EIC Programme Manager.
