UKFundamental AI Research Lab
EPSRC's flagship £40 million investment to establish a world-leading strategic research lab dedicated to advancing the UK's position in fundamental AI development. The programme awards an initial 18-month research grant (up to £7.5M at 80% FEC) and a 6-year training grant (up to £1.9M at 100% FEC), extendable to a six-year £40M programme following a successful stage gate review. Includes up to 2M GPU hours annually via the AI Research Resource (AIRR). Focus is on novel fundamental AI research that avoids duplicating commercial industrial lab efforts, addressing theoretical foundations and overcoming methodological barriers.

UK-based research organisations with degree-awarding powers meeting EPSRC standard eligibility criteria. Consortia must include at least one organisation with degree-awarding powers. Lead institutions limited to one bid per opportunity. Mandatory Intent to Submit survey must be completed by 16 March 2026.Avantages et bénéfices
