A mandatory grant from local councils to individuals for home adaptations for disabled people. DFGs fund modifications to make homes more accessible, covering access improvements, bedroom/living room/kitchen/bathroom adaptations, heating system upgrades, and garden access. Applications are made through local authorities in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Critères d'éligibilité

Must be a disabled person living in their own home or any type of tenancy (private, council or housing association)
Can apply on behalf of a disabled person
Must intend to live in the home for the next five years (can be shorter for terminally ill)
The person submitting must be the owner, tenant, or landlord
Work must be necessary and appropriate to meet the disabled person's needs
Work must be reasonable and can be done depending on the age and condition of the property
Recipients of means-tested benefits (Universal Credit, income-related ESA, guaranteed Pension Credit) do not need to contribute to costs
Disabled persons under 18 do not need to make contributions
