Mid-Career Fellowships

The Mid-Career Fellowships are designed both to support outstanding individual researchers with excellent research proposals, and to promote public understanding and engagement with humanities and social sciences. The scheme frees successful applicants from normal academic commitments for 6 to 12 months to complete a major piece of research.

Qui peut postuler

Applicants must be employed at a UK-based university, Higher Education institution or Independent Research Organisation, be mid-career scholars usually within 15 years of their doctorate (or first academic appointment if no doctorate), and demonstrate an outstanding contribution to their field and capacity for public engagement.

Critères d'éligibilité

Prospective award holders must be employed at a UK-based university, Higher Education institution or Independent Research Organisation.
Researchers who have already made an outstanding contribution to their field and have achieved distinction as an excellent communicator and 'champion' in their field.
Applicants should usually be within no more than 15 years from the award of their doctorate; established researchers without doctorates should be within 15 years of their first academic appointment.
The Academy makes allowance for applicants who have had career breaks.
