Embassy of Japan - Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP)

The Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) is a Japanese ODA funding programme administered by the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh. It provides financial support to non-profit organisations including NGOs, educational institutions, medical institutions, and local government bodies for socio-economic development projects that directly benefit grassroots communities. The programme has funded 223 projects totalling approximately USD 17.7 million since 1989. Projects must focus on capital-intensive initiatives such as construction and equipment procurement, and must address Basic Human Needs including primary healthcare, primary education, water and sanitation, rural development, and poverty relief.

Open to non-profit organisations including NGOs registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau Bangladesh, local government bodies, medical institutions, and educational institutions. Organisations must have at least 10 permanent employees and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
