Aurora Internship Program

The Internship Program supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and graduates through internships that serve as pathways to jobs in Indigenous organisations and other relevant sectors. The Commonwealth's Culture and Capability Programme provides financial support via scholarships for eligible Indigenous interns under this program.

Who can apply

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students or graduates enrolled in or graduated from an Australian university or vocational institute (minimum Certificate IV). Must provide confirmation of Indigenous descent and not be currently receiving Indigenous Cadetship Support funding (unless applying for non-funded internship).

Eligibility criteria

Be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Provide confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent via a signed statement with common seal from an Aboriginal Heritage Association, Aboriginal Corporation or Land Council.
At time of application, not in receipt of funding through the Indigenous Cadetship Support initiative (can apply for non-funded internship if receiving ICS).
Enrolled for study at a university or vocational institute (minimum Certificate IV) or have graduated from a degree at an Australian university.
Capacity to complete a four to six week full-time internship or part-time equivalent.
Six months must have passed before undertaking a second Commonwealth funded internship.
